Study CirclesOur society has few spaces where people from all walks of life can come together to talk about spiritual topics, educate themselves on community building strategies, and become friends with a shared purpose. The Baha’i community has developed a series of courses, open to everyone, to respond to this pressing need.
The purpose of study circles is to provide participants with the knowledge, spiritual insights and skills to enable them to contribute to the betterment of society, starting with their own neighborhood. The Bahá’í community has many ongoing study circles here in Humboldt. Click below to learn more about the study materials and how to join or start one of your own. Bahá’í Children's ClassesChildren’s classes allow a community’s youngest members to practice their God-given qualities, such as kindness, generosity, patience and compassion. Teachers of all ages come together to create an environment where children feel they belong to the community and share in its purpose.
The lessons promote qualities that require the children to think, reflect, and apply spiritual virtues to decisions in their lives. Great attention is given to the development of spiritual qualities and to those beliefs, habits, and behaviors that constitute the essential attributes of a well-rounded, happy child. The program is for children aged 5-11 and hosted in various neighborhoods and community centers in over 200 countries around the world. Please contact us for more information about children’s classes held here in Humboldt County. |
Devotional GatheringsThese prayer gatherings bring friends, families and neighbors together in a spirit of worship - feeding the soul through prayer, song and contemplation. Drawing strength from the cultural character of our community, they inspire meaningful connections in an informal setting.
They occur naturally in an environment where conversations about the spiritual aspects of human existence are present. These gatherings foster unity among friends who are actively seeking to increase the fellowship and understanding between one another's diverse perspectives. We regularly hold devotionals throughout Humboldt County and invite you to participate with us. We are currently holding gatherings via Zoom for the safety of all. Find out how to join them using the link below. Junior Youth Spiritual EmpowermentEarly adolescence represents perhaps the most turbulent years of growing up. Yet these young people possess altruism, an acute sense of justice, growing awareness, increased interest in profound questions. and a desire to contribute to building a better world.
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program assists youth ages 11-15 to navigate through a crucial stage of their lives so they may become empowered to direct their energy towards making positive contributions to their communities. The junior youth meet regularly with a trained mentor and through storytelling, discussion, recreation, arts and service projects, participants form healthy and productive patterns of behavior. They build discernment and decision-making skills, and learn to address the needs of their communities. |
Simple, profound, and revolutionary, this community building process:
|
Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.” - Bahá'u'lláh
In neighborhoods across the country, Bahá’is and their friends are engaged in a community building process that cultivates love and translates it into action.
